Roberto Clemente Portrait with bat

A great batting pose, Roberto Clemente led the Pirates to two World Series Championships, 1960 and 1971. Clemente was killed in an aircraft accident attempting to take relief supplies to earthquake devastated Nicaragua, December 31, 1972. He was enshrined at Cooperstown in 1973, the first and only time in history that the baseball writers allowed an induction without the mandatory 5 year wait.
